With a father in show business, John William “Will” Ferrell made every other plan than to be an actor and yet that is exactly where he ended up.
By the end of 2013, with his most recent film “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”, Will’s asking price for a film was reportedly $20 million. Not bad for ending up in a profession he never intended.
Born in Irvine California to Betty Kay Overman-Ferrell, a teacher and his father, Roy Lee Ferrell, Will said he was born with a coping mechanism that allowed him to see the brighter side of things.
Ferrell grew up in fairly safe and perhaps a little boring, Irvine California, which he said was underpinning of his comedic ability.
Like his character in his Anchorman films, Ferrell did indeed have a short career in broadcasting, but it was wholly unsuccessful, he said in a 2013 interview with Wolf Blitzer.
After graduating from college in 1990, Ferrell began showing up in bit parts in 1995 and then, seemingly out of nowhere, blasted his way into America’s living rooms on Saturday Night Live.
