Movie Review: A Dog’s Purpose

Source: Youtube

Prior to its release, A Dog’s Purpose suddenly found itself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. A website obtain footage of an animal being forced to swim during shooting of the movie. Unfortunately, this put the movie in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. If you are wondering what the movie is about or are considering seeing it, it is time to focus on the good, rather than the negative.

A Dog’s Purpose is a family-friendly movie. It is about a dog that is reincarnated. Each time he is reincarnated he comes back as a different type of dog and with new owners. As a parent, you need to be aware that this is the main premise of the movie, as it can be confusing for young children or may go against your beliefs. Aside from that, the movie has a very clear point. It is meant to teach you to love your dog and respect your dog. It also shows you that your dog is always there for you and his purpose is to serve his owner and love his owner.

All in all, this is an emotional, yet feel good movie. There are highs and lows, yet the point of the movie is made clear several times throughout the movie. For the most part, it is predictable and is a safe bet. But it’s also cute and serves to engage the audience and keep their attention for a couple of hours. This is not a mind-blowing or innovative movie by any means, but it is a movie a family can enjoy together. If you’re looking for something to do on a Saturday afternoon with your kids, this is a movie you may want to consider seeing at matinee prices.
